Spiral Wishing Well Business Rep Program

Last Updated: February 02, 2012

BY: Steve Divnick, President

Overview of this page...

In the next few minutes, we will show you how you can quickly place Spiral Wishing Wells in foot-traffic locations in your city or region. This is ideal for part-time effort. It does not require full time unless you are targeting a major population area.

This program will generate revenue for you in three primary ways:

coin funnels
(All "larger view" pictures on this page
open in a separate browser window so you won't lose your place on this page)

  • Up-front profit of $500 for the Two and Three-Footer and $2,000 for the Seven-Footers when sold to charities, and double that when sold commercially. This is the quickest source of profit, and surprisingly easy as described later on this page.

  • On-going profit of $10 to $15 for every mini-well toy that you sell as a result of the small sales-sign attached to each of the large floor model Wells. In other words, you get to place "demonstrators" INSIDE Wal-Marts, McDonald's, and other retail stores that sell toys for you and generate on-going revenue. They would kick you off their property if you tried to stand in front of their stores and sell your products, but our program gets you INSIDE...only better because you don't have to stand there. The Wishing Wells do it for you, even while you are asleep, playing golf, or spending time with your family! They never get tired and never complain. And to top it all off, the stores pay you for the demonstration device! More about the mini-well toy below...

  • Rental profit when you rent a Well to local churches, schools, athletic events, charity fund raisers in the public square or coliseum, to pancake breakfast fund raisers, etc... The rental rate is 50% of the coin revenue OR you can let them apply that to the purchase of a Well. Therefore, the rental option becomes a sales strategy too. And of course, you will earn a profit on the toys that they offer to their attendees. We provide all the rental tools you need including press release wording for your local media, a rental agreement form, and rim-sticker wording that offers the Wells for rent. In other words, every time you rent one or more of your Wells, they serve as a billboard telling everyone that spends time dropping in coins that they can also rent it for their church, school, or charity too. And of course, we will refer all rental inquiries from your area to you. More about the rental program later in this page...

This page will go into more detail about those 3 sources of income.

Overview

The Effects of Today's Economy

As you know, many businesses are facing layoffs as the economy struggles with recession. Schools, churches, libraries, and all charities and non-profit organizations are especially hard-hit. Their normal sources of donations are drying up. State and local funding is going to more critical needs. This has motivated them to become a lot more creative in finding alternate sources of income. As a result, we have seen our business surge, and this creates an even more ready-market for local Reps. Even the more sophisticated organizations such as art museums are getting Wells. In the many years we have been offering Spiral Wishing Wells, there has never been a more receptive and eager customer base.

Who buys the Wells from you?

In broad terms, there are four types of customers who will purchase Wells from you:

1) Charities and organizations that have their own floor space

It is easy to understand the process when a museum, zoo, library, YMCA, school, church, or any other charity with their own floor-space purchase Wells from you. They already have a place to put them with walk-by foot traffic, and they raise money for themselves. Those are among the easiest sales...the "low hanging fruit". We will share the best strategy to use for this type of customer later...

2) Stores that raise money for their preferred charity

The second easiest sales are directly to stores who raise money for their preferred charity. They have the most important ingredient...floor space with foot traffic.

As you will read further down this page, stores can get reimbursed by one of their vendors who will eagerly "sponsor" the Well(s) in exchange for getting their "brand" name on the Well(s). This completely removes the cost for the stores. You are probably aware of the branding competition for breakfast cereal, soft drinks, and toilet tissue, etc. Shelf and isle positioning is very lucrative and critical for vendors, and they are very willing to buy it. They pay extra for eye-level shelf space, for first-in-the-isle positioning, and for the ability to hang large signs from the ceiling. This is considered "extra" income for the stores. Vendors approach store management continuously asking for this kind of preferential placement.

So all you have to do is suggest to the store that they get one of their vendors to sponsor the Well which gets their name on the bottom of it. Click here to see more about Sponsorship Programs, or come back to it later so you get the overall Rep concept first.

3) Directly to charities who then place the Wells in foot traffic locations

As stated above, the most important ingredient to Spiral Wishing Well success is having a place to put them where people pass by. This is the challenge for most charities that do not already have a relationship with stores and restaurants. But they still represent a significant amount of sales for Reps, especially as a result of event rentals.

4) Commercial sales

Although less common, there are some customers who purchase Wells for their commercial profit. They position the Wells similar to "coin-operated game machines" and all the money tossed in is theirs to keep. When Reps sell Wells commercially, their profit is greater because they do not give the "non-profit" grant discount discussed later.

Fund Raising Solution

All chain stores get hit daily by local charities wanting to solicit customers for fund raising. But stores don't like their customers being solicited. People feel guilty or embarrassed if they say no or walk past a human being. They don't want to appear selfish or uncaring. That is not conducive to shopping, and stores don't like it.

Spiral Wishing Wells are inanimate, so no one feels guilty if they walk past without putting in money. In fact, since they provide entertainment, and because coins are of little value and are easy for people to give, many people don't even read the sign or care what charity gets the money.

Additionally, almost all chain stores have a preferred charity that they are already committed to. Their corporate headquarters gives each store a "goal" of fundraising from employee efforts. But that is becoming more and more difficult because people are so busy. The "goal" feels more like a "quota". But Spiral Wishing Wells can raise the entire goal the easy way. Many of our Wal-Mart managers report that their entire store's goal is now raised with their Wishing Wells, so they don't have to beg or organize their employees to do car washes, raffles, and other time-critical things.

So when you walk into a store with a Spiral Wishing Well, you will be offering a solution to these challenges by providing a simple way for them to raise money. And because of the sponsorship option, your "solution" won't even cost them money.

The time and receptivity has never been better for Spiral Wishing Wells. We just need local Reps who will demonstrate them to the stores in their area. That is what this program is all about.

Background

We invented and patented the Spiral Wishing Well in 1985 and have been manufacturing and shipping them to retail stores, museums, zoos, and various charities around the world since then. Marketing has been primarily word-of-mouth among store managers and charities. This approach has resulted in thousands of Wells around the world where they have raised over $200 million for various charities. Countless thousands of people have been helped, exciting research has been funded, summer camps for blind children have been sponsored, and Wishing Well revenue has paid for life-saving surgeries.

Word of mouth is effective, but not very thorough. We admit that we have been content to let the business come to us. But as a result, we have only scratched the surface of the potential. Many cities don't even have their first Well yet, and Wal-Marts are being built at a faster rate than Wells are being placed in them. These facts, along with the surge in our business as a result of the general economic recession, has led us to the decision to begin a more aggressive marketing campaign that includes local Distributor Reps.

***On-site Demos Are the Key to Success***

You can do something in your city we cannot do from our factory in Ohio. You can place a demo Well in local stores so the management can see how easy it is to raise money for their preferred charity, and that it does not "solicit" their customers.

And you can earn a large up-front profit AND create a lucrative stream of ongoing income in the process!

"OK, they can't always be this easy. I got my delivery on Monday, and carried a Well into my local McDonald's that same day. I adapted your suggested wording for their Ronald McDonald Charities, and they accepted it for a two-day demo. I have to admit that I was nervous walking in with a Well. But when I went back, counted the money ($22.19), and handed it to them, they didn't even care how much money it had made. They loved it and said their customers loved it. But the two-day total took them over the top and they bought it right there on the spot.

"But that's not the end of the story. The manager took his new Two-Footer to the regional meeting and showed it to the other managers in his area. All 22 of them have since ordered a Well!"

Mark Grismer, Washington

Proven Performance

Before we begin describing the various ways you can earn profit, let's review how effectively Spiral Wishing Wells raise money. Click here to read a report from New Mexico about how Spiral Wishing Wells are performing in 22 Wal-Mart and Sam's stores. (Remember, the links in this middle column will open in a new browser so you won't lose your place here...)

There are many other reports listed in the "Customer Reviews" section of our website.

The success of Spiral Wishing Wells is a two-part formula.

1) It is FUN for the customers and employees.
2) It solves a problem for the stores at the same time.

Let's look at each of these points more closely.

Customers: The attraction for customers is very simple.

People toss money into the Wells because it is fun to watch. It is entertaining. Coins make about 40 revolutions around the vortex cone, each one spiraling closer to the center, hugging the vertical side-walls at eye-blurring speeds before finally spinning out of sight into a locked receptacle 20 to 30 seconds later. People are fascinated, and often empty their pockets and purses...each time they walk past, no matter how many times they visit that store!

Why do stores and charities like Wells so much? The following bullet points answer that question.

Spiral Wishing Wells have a 24-year track record of international success with over $200 million worth of coins tossed into thousands of Spiral Wishing Wells throughout the world. So the store or charity is not "experimenting" with something untried. Spiral Wishing Wells are the most unique and profitable fund-raising devices of all time!

The current one-day record for a single Well is $7,352.39 from a promoted event at Canyonville Academy, a small Christian school in Canyonville, Oregon! Wishing Wells make a great focal point for an event.

Many Wells generate over $100 a day with only a little promotion. Some have brought in over $1,000,000 in the same location! Those are the exceptional reports. But even ordinary locations can effortlessly generate $100 to $500 per month...just sitting there.

Spiral Wishing Wells are much more profitable than passive coin canisters which "solicit" customers for donations. This is a BIG deal for stores. They don't like their customers being solicited. NO SOLICITATION ALLOWED! Look at the manager's face in this picture. It tells the whole story.

Spiral Wishing Wells do not require valuable employee time like most corporate fund raising programs.

Some stores use a Spiral Wishing Well as their "official" fund-raising method and avoid the pressure from the dozens of charities who want to solicit their customers. They just say, "You can apply to be the receiving charity from Wishing Well proceeds for a month..."

Prime locations include restaurants, department and grocery stores, children's toy and clothing stores, museums and zoos, malls, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and every other location with walk-in customers or visitors. We even have Spiral Wishing Wells in major-league ballparks and on ferry ships. Wherever there are people---the more the better! The best locations are where people plan to "wait around" such as restaurants, car washes, waiting rooms, theaters, etc.

This is doubly profitable when it is a "family" setting such as a restaurant and their children need something to do while they wait. How many of those kinds of locations do you have in your area?

Consider this statement from a McDonald's in Springfield, Missouri:

"Our Well is bringing in almost twice the amount each month as our other canisters in the same store. Based on this success, please accept this as an order for two more Wells for our other locations."

Museums, Zoos, and other public locations

Museums, zoos, planetariums, aquariums, botanical gardens, and other public institutions are the easiest category, especially now with the new giant Seven Footer model. Consider this statement from the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN.

"With the Wishing Well raising over $15,000 each year since its installation, the success of this devise has far exceeded our expectations." Tennessee Aquarium

Consider these additional points:

1) Their local, state and federal funding is drying up and they are VERY eager to find other sources of fundraising.

2) The "location and recipient" are the same so they easily understand the benefits. Even local libraries, schools, playground committees, and varsity sport booster clubs are getting Wells because their costs are increasing while resources are scarce.

3) Most of the museums, zoos, planetariums, and aquariums that have our smaller Wells will now want to upgrade to the new giant Seven Footer. If they are in your territory, you can make those sales.

4) If institutions like this cannot afford a Well, you can offer to spread out the payments with 50% of the revenue, or you can help them find a sponsor.

Click here to see the list of many of these installations. We have sold hundreds of Wells to this category of customer around the world. If you become the Rep in your area, you can contact them about upgrading to a new model or the new Seven-Footer and YOU can pocket the $2,000 or $3,000 profit!

Other Customer Types

In addition to stores that buy Wells to raise money for their corporate charities, we sell Wells to churches, schools, service clubs (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, etc), theaters, bowling centers, libraries, YMCA's, Humane Societies, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs. There are many organizations and institutions that are HUNGRY for easy ways to raise more money, and Spiral Wishing Wells are the BEST FUNDRAISING DEVICE OF ALL TIME!

All these customers exist in your local city and region, and you can sell to all of them and earn a large up-front profit AND an ongoing income stream from the toys they will sell.

New Rep Business Model

The reputation and success of Spiral Wishing Wells has spread from store to store and museum to museum by word-of-mouth across America and into many other countries. This has been a very profitable business model for us.

But not everyone is in that loop. The bottom line is that unless a decision-maker has heard about it from someone they trust, they have to see it in action.

That is why we have launched this new Business Rep Program. You can do something locally that we can't do from here.

You can carry a Well into a store and SHOW them how it will raise money for THEIR charity. You can take it into a museum, library, YMCA, humane society and demonstrate it live...which is much better than a video. We have NEVER seen anyone watching coins spin around that didn't get a big wide grin on their face, regardless of their age.

Words and brochures don't sell Wishing Wells. In fact, this website doesn't either. Our website mostly tells people who have seen Wells in action how to get them! It answers their questions.

But their desire to buy a Well is the result of seeing one in action. It is all about the demonstration IN THEIR LOCATION! There is nothing more impressive than watching the coins spin around the trackless surface and seeing the smiles on THEIR customer's faces.

Spiral Wishing Wells won't carry themselves into a store for a demo, but they will sell themselves once they are carried in where people can see the coins put on their show. It is only fair that the person who carries them in gets the largest financial reward. That is what our new Rep program is all about.

In addition to your direct sales profit, the rental program will generate sales for you since it is a risk-free way for a charity to test a Well. And in those cases, they come and pick it up from you, and bring it back to you and hand you a check for half the revenue...or they purchase it!

Cost and Income Section

Project Kindness Grants

As you can see on our retail website pricing page, the commercial price for the Two and Three-Footer Wells is $1,995 and we encourage customers to contact us to find out if they qualify for the Project Kindness Grants. We then inform them that the grant amount for those sizes is $500 which leaves the store's or charity's share at $1,495. We also tell them that we will take care of all the normal grant application process so they will not have any challenges or hassles. All they have to do is submit our non-profit order form on their letterhead.

The grants completely change the attitude of our prospective customers. Before the grants were available, customers would approach us with something like, "We are a non-profit charity and would like to receive a discount..." With the grants positioned as "possibly available if they qualify" they approach us with full explanations of their usage, how great their organization is, and almost pleading to qualify for the grants. It is a wonderful position for a sales person when their customers are pleading to be able to purchase from them!

Also, receiving a grant that covers part of the cost gives our customers a lot more power when they seek a sponsor to cover the remaining portion. A prospective sponsor will automatically see more credibility in the Well since an organization is providing grants for it.

As a Rep, you can also offer these grants. Here is how it works...

Project Kindness is our organization, although it operates independently. As you can see on www.ProjectKindness.org, it is designed to help spread acts of kindness and encouraging e-messages.

Since it is our sister organization, it doesn't have to physically handle the grants or any actual money since that would be like passing money from our left hand to our right hand. Rather, we deduct the grant right off the top so it acts like a "non-profit discount". However, it carries a lot more power when positioned as a "grant".

Therefore, as a Rep, you can offer the same grant wording to your local charities, organizations, and stores.

Since the majority of all Wells sold are for charitable purposes, Project Kindness provides the grants for all the Wells at the point of origin which is our warehouse. Therefore, the $500 grant is deducted from your wholesale cost as shown in the next section. When you sell to a commercial customer for the full price, since that is a rare occurrence, you get to keep the full profit, including the grant amount. You do not need to repay the grant.

Regarding the grants, the bottom line is this: When you present to a non-profit organization, or a store that is raising money for a charity, we want you to let them know that they qualify for a $500 grant from Project Kindness. As stated above, it demonstrates that an organization is willing to put up money, and that adds credibility to the Wells AND TO YOU AS THE REP. In fact, we encourage you to suggest to your prospective customer that the grant will make it easier for them to ask a local company to sponsor the Well because they can tell them that, "We have an organization that has put up an unrestricted grant for a large portion of the cost, and the sponsor only needs to cover the balance..."

What are your wholesale prices and profit margins?

As shown on the pricing page of the main website, the commercial retail price of the Two and Three-Footers is $1,995.

As explained above, if they are using the Well to raise money for a non-profit organization, Project Kindness will pay $500 of the cost, and your customer only has to cover the remaining $1,495.

The Seven-Footer suggested retail price is $6,995 with $1,000 paid by Project Kindness leaving their share at $5,995.

As a Rep, you will sell for those same numbers so that your local customers won't be motivated to "go around" you and come to us. Of course, you can add the individual shipping cost, even though your shipping cost will be less when you order in quantity. Therefore, as you will see in the table below, when purchasing at the lowest wholesale Rep Cost, your profit on the Two and Three-Footers will be over $500.

The following table shows your costs and gross profit margins, which INCLUDE the ProjectKindness grant deductions in the yellow column. These prices are for white funnels. Colors are an additional $100 for Two and Three-Footers, and $200 for Seven-Footers which is basically a "pass-along" price.

Your customer's share of the cost

So, your non-profit customer's cost or "share" is $1,495. How can they pay for it?

Wal-Marts usually pay for the Wells with a money order from a special fund in each store they have for their charitable projects. Most just pay for it from their budget. The source of their payment varies from store to store and charity to charity. But they will hand you the payment, or make the check out to you since you. The account they take it from doesn't matter to you.

But there is a valuable understanding we want you to have, and to pass along at the appropriate time as suggested in the word-for-word strategy further down this page.

1) Everyone knows that it is the coins that ultimately pay for the Wells. Even if your customers pay you out of their budget, they are doing so because they believe the coins will be enough to justify the cost. So you can confidently suggest, "Of course, the coins will pay it off very quickly. In fact, you can reimburse your cost from the initial proceeds if you wish." Every charity in the world would love to have stores purchase Wells, put the charity's name on the Well, reimburse themselves, then send 100% of the revenue from that point forward to the charity. But stores don't often think of doing this because they incorrectly think that the charities wouldn't like that idea. So you might need to remind them. In that sense, the Wells are FREE as soon as they repay their cost. Therefore, the initial cost can be thought of as a temporary "loan" by the store or the entity that purchases it.

By the way, even though the Project Kindness Grant requires that 100% of the revenue go to a charity, the terms of the grant allow this repayment plan. After all, that is exactly what a charity would do if they purchased the Well for themselves. They would not consider it profitable until after it had paid for itself. So there is no difference if a store purchases the Well in order to benefit a charity.

2) The store also has the option of getting a vendor to sponsor the Well. But this is MUCH MORE than just getting the Well paid for. The floor space is valuable for the stores, and that is what they have to sell to vendors. So they can charge a sponsorship fee of the full value of the Well EVERY YEAR. So not only are they getting their money back right away, they will continue to earn money on that floor space while giving 100% of the coin revenue to their favorite charity. When you explain this to them, they will quickly understand that this is not a matter of "donating" floor space for a Well, this is a matter of making money from it. And that is talking their language. We include this concept in our suggested word-for-word strategy further down this page....

"We had such success with our first wishing well, we purchased additional wishing wells for our other stores.  We pick a different organization to fundraise for in the stores and hear such positive feedback from our customers - the kids just love them!  It is not only great exposure for the organization but is a reminder to our customers that we are a community minded company."

Sources of Rep income with this program!

As mentioned above, there are three basic ways for you to earn money with Spiral Wishing Wells:

1) Selling them outright and profiting from the difference between your cost and the sale price.

2) The on-going sales of the miniature toy Wishing Wells which can generate up to $15.00 profit per toy.

3) Rental revenue income (that also just happens to be one of the easiest ways to sell Wells at the same time).

Let's put the first two income sources together in an example.

How many Wells can be placed in a city? We use the same demographic formulas that store chains use to determine how many stores they locate in a given population area. There are a few "prime" locations such as department stores, grocery stores, restaurants, museums, zoos, etc., and then there are "secondary" locations with smaller amounts of foot traffic. They do not justify the cost of the Wells based on the foot traffic alone. But the great news is that the people who do go to those locations are extremely valuable to some advertisers. So they are very willing to pay for the Wells in the form of a sponsorship. For instance, a beauty salon doesn't have a lot of traffic, but orthodontists will sponsor Wells there because they want to reach mothers who make the dental decisions for their children.

The rate of coin revenue does not matter to the sponsor. They are only interested in the eyeballs that see their sign in connection with the charity. The store or host has no cost. So whatever amount of money tossed in is all profit for the listed charity.

This is great news for your local Rep business because there are many more "secondary" locations than "primary", and the cost of the Well is not a deterrent for them.

A realistic number of Wells that can be placed is 10 Wells per 10,000 to 15,000 of general population. In a concentrated city, the ratio is closer to 10 Wells per 25,000 people. For example that would include a Wal-Mart or other large general store (Super Wal-Marts take 2 Wells), a couple of large grocery stores, three or four fast food restaurants, a sit-down restaurant or two, a large hardware store, a library, an elementary, middle and high school, a bowling center, 1 large church, etc.

Based on that formula, if you live in a region with a population of 100,000 to 150,000 people, you should easily be able to sell 100 Wells to what we call "prime" locations such as department stores, restaurants, libraries, grocery stores, malls, YMCA's, museums, etc.

Now, if you did that, how much would you earn? Let's just look at the Two and Three-Footers, and leave the $2,000 to $3,000 per Well income potential of the Seven-Footers for another part of this page.

Since we are looking at an example of 100 Two and Three-Footer Wells, let us further assume that you are purchasing at the lowest price level of $1,000 each, and all your sales are at the non-profit price of $1,495 which generates a profit margin of $495 per Well. If you pass along the single-Well shipping cost, your average profit per Well will easily pass $500. You might also sell some Wells at full retail which earns you $1,000 per Well. But we'll use $500 for our example.

100 Wells times $500 profit per Well is $50,000 of UP FRONT PROFIT. That might be all the motivation you desire. But there is more, lots more.

Then, if each Well generates a sale of just one Vortx per day (more specific information about the toy sales below), you would earn an additional $1,400 per day profit! And those sales demonstrations are being done for you all day long and into the night, without your effort, even when you are home watching television or playing with your children!

Secondary Locations

For every prime location, there are 20 to 30 smaller locations that will not be able to justify the cost of a Well based on their small quantity of foot traffic. However, for every one of those locations, there are companies that would love to advertise in that demographic. For instance, there is an orthodontist in Pennsylvania that sponsors Wells in beauty salons because he wants his name and slogan in front of mothers who are the ones that make decisions about their children's teeth. He lets the beauty salons give the coin revenue to any organization they want. The orthodontist isn't primarily concerned with the amount of money tossed in because that is not his main concern. He is doing it for the eyeballs that see his sponsorship sign, and recognize the fact that he supports local charities...a feel-good bonus. The beauty salons are not primarily concerned with the amount of money tossed in because they didn't pay for the Well and don't need to justify its cost. And all charities will gladly accept any amount of money they receive, even if not as much as from a Well located in a Wal-Mart store. So the Rep earns $500 on those Wells too, plus the profit on the toy sales. Everybody wins.

So even after you "pick the low-hanging fruit" of the prime locations, you still have a LOT of sales and profit that you can earn. Remember, there are 20 to 30 secondary or "non-prime" locations for every prime location. And those sales are also very easy since the "funding" is coming from motivated advertisers. When you carry the Wells in, you are offering them FREE to the locations.

Do those numbers get your attention?

Let's say this example is 50% wrong, and you only place 50 prime Wells plus a bunch of secondary Wells. That is still a LOT of income.

Remember, this example does not include the Seven-Footer, and it does not include any rental profit.

Please keep this example in mind as you read on...

Rental or Loan Program

It is very profitable to start a "Rental" or "Loan" program where you rent a Well to schools (football, basketball, soccer games etc.) or churches, or charities for one-day or weekend fund raising events, or to larger venues such as stadiums, races, or concerts.

Consider this example: We are located near Dayton Ohio. We first rented a Well to the local "Inventor's Council of Dayton" which is a non-profit organization that is sponsored by some local engineering companies. I describe this to you because most people do not know that there are similar organizations in many cities. But they are rather obscure compared to the Red Cross, March of Dimes, or Habitat for Humanity. For every well-known charity, there are many lesser known that a hungry for creative ways to raise money.

The Inventor's Council holds an annual "Tech Fest" at a local city college, and they rent a Well for that weekend. The results provide a great example of what can happen in your city with a lot of profit going into your pocket.

1) The media covers the event, and the Spiral Wishing Well always gets some exposure. The news report mentions that the Well is available for rent by churches, schools, and other charities, so we always get a lot of rental business from that weekend. Why does the news mention it? Because we ask the Tech Fest people to be sure and ask the media to mention it. It is as simple as that.

2) The "rim sticker" says, "If you would like to use this Well for your fund raising event, please call 937-384-0003". Of course, your rim sticker will have your phone number. Of the 2,000+ people who attend that event, many of them represent churches, schools, and other charities...all of which struggle to raise funds, so it always leads to more rental requests.

3) We sold 4 Wells outright as a result of the Well's exposure at the first Tech Fest event, and many of our other sales in this area have been to store managers or charities who said, "Oh yeah, I have seen these devices at the Tech Fest or on TV...." So the recognition prepares them to be receptive to purchase a Well for their stores. We don't even know how many indirect sales have resulted from this annual event. The bottom line is that when you start renting out your Wells, it will attract sales and provide recognition when you make direct demo sales approaches.

4) We have sold untold numbers of mini-well toys as a result of that exposure. When parents and grandparents see their children having so much fun at the Wishing Well, it is an easy decision for them to get a toy version. This is especially the case when events are in November and December and parents and grandparents are on the lookout for unique toys.

Those are some of the examples and benefits from just this one annual event. There are many other events in a city the size of Dayton (150,000 population base). We rent Wells to churches and schools, and to charities that use them at events in shopping malls and many other public locations.

See Rental Options for more information about this source of income and sales. Be sure to click the links on that page to look at the "tools" we provide to make this option easy and profitable for you. Especially notice how the charities you loan a Well to can give away the toys "FREE for a $25 or greater donation" and how that works even better than selling them. Of course, you earn an easy wholesale profit on every one of those toys without lifting a finger.

Alternate Idea: You can even get a local company to sponsor your Well (such as the Pizza Hut example in this section), so you can loan the Well at no charge! In other words, your profit will come from the sponsorship revenue, so the borrowing charity can keep 100% of the revenue. In this way, your local sponsor is getting lots of great exposure, and they are paying you for the Well you are loaning out that also generates sales for you. They will pay you the full cost of the Well EVERY YEAR! Where else can you resell the same product year after year after year? It is win-win-win formula for all parties.

Remember, we will also refer all local rental inquiries to you if you are actively selling Wells.

Referral Sales

Each Well you place becomes a "billboard" advertising to other store owners or managers, especially those who are part of that chain. You will have your name and phone number posted on the Well which will result in ongoing requests for Wells from other stores and charities, some for outright sales and others for rental. The more units you place, the more referrals you will receive. Store owners and managers will get excited about the revenue for their charity and will tell their fellow-managers about it resulting in even more sales for you.

Also, if you have exclusivity for your area, we will refer sales inquiries from your area directly to you. See the next few sections.

Ongoing Mini-Well Income

If this Rep program ONLY offered profit on the sale of large floor-model Wishing Wells, it would be exciting. But there is more, a lot more.

If you were to walk into a Wal-Mart store and ask if you could stand there and sell toys to their customers, they would haul you off to the funny farm. But that is the essence of what our business opportunity allows you to do. At Wal-Mart, Sears, McDonald's, Burger King, and every retail location in your city.

Let me say that again: EVERY RETAIL LOCATION IN YOUR CITY! There is no other business that can sell their products inside every store in town.

But even better, you don't have to stand there. The Spiral Wishing Well does the selling for you. So even after you sell your Wells outright and make a few hundred dollars every time that happens, the Vortx's provide an ongoing steady stream of revenue since every Well becomes an interactive demonstrator.

If you purchase a minimum of 3 wholesale floor-model Wells, you will qualify to purchase the Vortx Miniature Wells for the lowest wholesale price (currently $11 each) in case-lots of 25 Vortx's which is $275 per case (plus $25 to $30 for the shipping depending on your location). They retail on our website for $24.95 when purchased one at a time, or $19.95 each if two or more, plus $10 shipping, so your average profit can be DOUBLE YOUR MONEY with every sale.

The average customer that orders on our website purchases 2 toys.

The generic sign posters that come with each Well offer the toy with a toll free number (below). Many people order them while standing at a Well in a store using their cell phone. But as a Rep, you can put your phone number on that part of the sign, and they will buy directly from you. The logistics of that process are discussed in the next couple of sections.

So selling the toys is as easy as falling off a log! Your Wells will do all the work.

The Card

The Vortx Sales Card shown here offers a $5 discount if they "toss in a dollar".

This is why the stores to whom you sell Wells let you make this offer. It generates more coin revenue for their charity at absolutely NO COST OR ADDITIONAL HASSLE for them.

The Logistics for you as a Rep

There are two options:

1) You replace our phone number with yours, and then you handle the sales from your inventory from your own location.

For you to handle the sale, you will place your local phone number on the card. We will print that for you if you don't have a computer printer. Customers will then call you and come to you to pick up the toys.

If you handle the sale yourself, you will need to be sure you meet the requirements of your State and local government such as being able to collect sales tax.

If you own any type of retail store, this is a great way to get lots of new people walking in through your doors.

OR

2) If you don't have your own retail store or location, you can set up a relationship with another retail location to handle the sales.

If you don't have a retail location or if you don't want the hassle of answering the phone and making the sale, you can find a local retail business in your city to handle the sales for you. This would typically be a store that wants more walk-in foot traffic (they all do!) which is exactly what you will be generating for them. For instance, you could approach a locally-owned DVD rental store, restaurant, or other store and ask them to handle the sales for you. You will list their location on the Wishing Well sign such as, "Get your toys TODAY at [name of store]". They will do this for you at no cost, or for as little as $1.00 or $2.00 per sale because: 1) They have no cost in the toys since you supply them, and 2) You are generating FREE traffic for them. The $1 or $2 more than covers their transaction costs.

We provide the specific logistics and wording to set up this kind of relationship in our "Strategy and Tools" packet that we provide to all Reps along with their initial purchase.

If you choose this option, you will sell the demonstrators (the large Wells) and earn a large up-front profit, and then someone else will handle the ongoing sales.

  • You can go on vacation.
  • You can still work your other job.
  • You can still be a teacher.
  • You can still be a student.
  • You can still be a plumber.
  • You can still be a preacher.
  • You can still be a retiree.
  • You can still be an accountant.
  • You can still be a homemaker.

Once you have sold the Wells, this can be a turn-key hands-free business that will generate on-going income for many years.

Think of it this way: What if this whole page was about just selling the Vortx toy, and you had to purchase and place the large demonstrator Wells as an expense to you? It would still be a profitable business even if you had to retain ownership of the demonstrators.

But with our Rep program, THE STORE BUYS THE DEMONSTRATORS FROM YOU AT A PROFIT AND THEN THE ONGOING REVENUE STREAM BEGINS WITH THE FLOW OF VORTX TOYS!

Do you remember the example earlier on this page of 100 Wishing Wells accounting for the sale of 1 toy per day? Hopefully, that makes more sense now. The thing that none of us know is how many of the dozens of parents and grandparents who stop and toss coins into a Well on a given day will have a child in their family, and how many of those will purchase one or more Vortx toys. But even if our example is way off, the numbers are all leaning your way...because you have already made a profit on the demonstrator.

Protected and Open Territories

Since our Rep program is not a franchise, we cannot restrict a given specific marketplace. Therefore, you can sell Wells anywhere, just as other Reps can do.

However, we can restrict where we ship Wells. If you are aggressive and want to lock up your territory so that we don't ship any wholesale Wells to anyone in your area except to you, that option is available as explained below.

There is not any other charge or franchise fee. Protected territories are based on ongoing volume relative to your population and are awarded on a "first-qualify-first-awarded" basis.

Are there any Wells in your territory now? If so, they may be the older models and in need of replacement. Do the local Wal-Marts have a Well? If they are a Super-Center with only one Well, selling another one for the second entrance is very easy because they already know how great they are. How about the McDonalds? Burger Kings? The supermarkets? Theaters? Bowling centers? Malls? YMCA's? Humane Societies? If you don't see Wells in these locations, there are a lot of easy placements and money to be made in your area.

Exclusivity

If you want to protect your territory so no other Reps can purchase Wells there, you need to purchase 12 Wells, and then meet an ongoing minimum that will depend on how large your territory is. As a general rule, a territory is usually 100,000 to 250,000 population. Larger territories would require larger volume. We will discuss this with you at your request. Our philosophy on protection is that there is no need for protection unless you are selling Wells. Said another way, if you are not selling Wells, there is nothing to protect. Of course, this protection also includes the toy sales, and the rental referrals from us. So exclusivity is a HUGE advantage.

We do not discuss or hold exclusivity for a 3-Well purchase. That means that if you start with 3 Wells, it is possible that someone else from your territory can purchase 12, and you would no longer be able to purchase Wells or toys from us. Nevertheless, we recommend starting with 3 to "test the waters" and see if this is a business you want to develop. At the same time, we want the motivation of protection and its benefits to exist for you during your test.

What happens if/when you have sold Wells to all the places that want them in your area? That would be a fantastic problem to have! That would mean that there is no need for ongoing exclusivity since you already effectively "own" your territory. When that happens, your minimum volume will revert to the movement of the toys.

Since this is not a franchise and we cannot limit sales to any given area, it is possible that some sales may take place to stores or other customers in your territory. But it also means that you can sell Wells to customers that may have stores in other areas too. If a Rep or other entity sells Wells to a member or related store that resides in your territory and wants us to drop-ship it for them, we will do so, just as we would drop-ship for you into another territory. Therefore, as is traditional with non-franchise business opportunities, house account sales and shipments sold by others are exempt from a Rep's exclusivity. Exclusivity restricts us from shipping wholesale Wells to other Reps in your territory, and it locks in your ability to purchase Wells and toys at the lowest cost.

Finder's Fee Commissions

While the Rep Program is developing across the country, we are offering a Finder's Fee when you refer other people who become Reps. We will give you 1 free Well as a finder's commission for every Rep you refer to us who purchases 12 or more Wells within 1 year!

You probably know some people in other areas who will be interested in making money as a Rep, and we want to reward you for spreading the word. Just refer them to this page, and BE SURE to have them write your name on the "Referred by" line on the order form.

The free Well is a one-time reward per Rep. It is shipped to you along with any future purchase you make, even if only 1 Well. In other words, any time after you refer someone who becomes a Rep, when you purchase at least 1 Well, we will include the free Well with that shipment. This avoids the requirement of 1099 tax forms. If you refer someone BEFORE you become a Rep yourself, we will add your free Well to your initial purchase, as long as that occurs within 90 days. This is a great way to get some free Wells lined up before you even start. In other words, we invite you to share this Rep business opportunity with friends in other areas to help build up your own inventory.

Sales Methods and Strategies

Easiest Sales

Some stores already know about the Wells, and they just need the opportunity to buy one. They don't need any demonstration because they have already seen them in action and have heard about the income results from other store managers. Those sales will be easy and quick, and a great surprise for you when you walk in. The following report is very common.

"I carried a Three-Footer into a Sam's Club and they had already heard about the Wells at a regional meeting. By the end of that visit, I had sold 6 of them for all of the area Sam's Clubs. I didn't even get to do the warm puppy approach!"

Sandra O'Neil, Wisconsin

Why haven't these stores ordered already? The answer is one of the reasons we are launching the Rep program. They are just too busy to do the research to find our company. They have seen the Wells. They have heard how effective they are. But they haven't taken the step to get one. So when you become a Rep, you will find some stores that don't even need a demo and the easy money will be yours...because you have gone to the effort of carrying in the Well.

The "Two-Day Warm Puppy Demonstration"

The basic demo presentation is very simple.

Carry a Well into the store (don't call for an appointment because then you have to try to explain it over the phone) and ask to speak to the person in charge of fund raising. As you drop a couple of coins into the Well (always drop quarters when you are demonstrating), ask him or her, "May I leave this Spiral Wishing Well with you for a couple of days so you can see how easily it raises money for your charity and how much fun it is for your customers?"

Notice the two points in that sentence highlighted in yellow. Both are critical to their buying decision.

It is easy for them and easy for their customers. Without specifically saying so, that word will also suggest to them "how much" it will raise. Without making any income claims, you will convey that it will be very easy for them to raise a lot of money.

It is fun for their customers. That also means it does not solicit or make them feel uncomfortable. You have probably experienced the feeling of guilt or embarrassment when you walk past a Salvation Army Bell Ringer during the Christmas shopping season without dropping in coins. It makes you feel cheap, even if you donated a couple dollars at the last store you visited. Store owners and managers don't like that. They want their customers to "feel" good about their shopping experience. In fact, the large TARGET chain recently banned Salvation Army from soliciting at their stores for that very reason. Spiral Wishing Wells create a sense of fun while being used, and no guilt if people walk on past.

The offer to "leave it there for a couple of days," is an easy yes for them...because you are not asking them to purchase the Well...just to "take a look". Notice that "couple of days" is purposefully vague. Don't be specific such as "for 2 days" as that begins to suggest to them that they should get permission from the owner or supervisor. Keep it simple and easy.

Coin FunnelClosing the Sale

Two days later, when the popularity of the Well is at its peak, when all the employees have been having fun with it and have tossed in a lot of their own loose change, you come back, count the money, hand it to the decision-maker and say,

"Your Well has raised $______ in two days. That is a rate of over $____ per month which will pay for the Well very quickly. Would you like one for each of your entrances and exits? (or, "How many would you like?" or "Would you like to keep it?" depending on the situation.)

When they ask you for the cost, that means they want it, so we love that question. They just need the number so they can decide whether or not to keep it, or how many to get. Say,

"The commercial cost from the factory is $1,995, but if 100% of the revenue goes to charity, Project Kindness will pay $500 of the cost, so your share is the remaining $1,495. By the way, you don't have to pay us any splits...all of the revenue is for your charity and you own the Well."

By this time in the simple presentation, you have established that the Well pays for itself. The following two points are a big bonus and helps close the sale. Basically, you are establishing a plan for them that they will understand and that will make this a profitable decision.

"Of course, you can pay yourself back with the initial revenue, then from that time forward, you can give it all to your charity. So the initial outlay is just a temporary cost.

"Even better, you can get one of your vendors to pay the entire cost in exchange for getting their brand and message on the sign on the bottom of the Well (point to the sample sponsor sign in a picture you bring with you described in the Strategy Page which we supply to you later in the decision-making process). In fact, they will pay this annually, so you will be able to make a profit on the floor space while still giving 100% of the coin revenue to your charity."

In most cases, they will not let you take the Well out of their store.

Benefits of the Warm Puppy Technique

During those two days, they will fall in love with the Well, their employees will toss in all their loose change, customers will have lots of fun, and the manager/owner will not want to let it go. It is just like little children who don't want to give up a puppy after they've fallen in love with it.

Your goal is to sell the demo Well itself. That way, every time you place another demo, it will be a new Well and you will never end up with used inventory other than the Well (or Wells) that you rent out. And even those Wells are purchased by the renting entity. Some Reps use this point as leverage to close the sale:

"In fact, if you are able to make a decision now, I can leave this Well here. Otherwise, we have to place the order with the factory and that can take several days depending on how many orders are ahead of yours. I don't want you to miss out on any income..."

(Note: It usually doesn't take more than a couple of days for us to ship a Well, plus the transit time...but there is always the possibility of delays depending on the demand from other parts of the country, so you can certainly use that in your close....)

Critical Point

Your goal is to sell the Well. But the way to get to that decision is to get them to accept the demo so it can "do the talking" and their employees will fall in love with it. When you ask to leave the Well there "for a couple of days" that is an easy thing for them to accept. We recommend that you never ask for a specific amount of days. For instance, a "couple" is better than asking for "2". When you are specific, it starts to sound like an agreement...a contract. If you are talking to someone other than the decision-maker, they are less likely to accept a specific amount of days without permission from their boss. And if you try to set something up with a phone call, a proposal in writing, or without a demo, it necessarily asks them to agree to something sight-unseen.

Approaching a prospect WITHOUT a demo Well

While we strongly recommend carrying a Well in with you for the first impression, there are times when that is impossible. In those cases, carry in a Vortx toy mini-well AND a color picture (printed from the website) of the floor model you want to sell to them or get their permission to set up as a demo.

This allows them to see the coin-spinning phenomenon and it reduces the pressure to talk too much.

But try to avoid this. It is a 10 to 1 advantage to carry in a floor-model Well. I have carried in both the Two and Three-Footer to some pretty strange places such as high-rise offices. It creates quite a stir in the elevator and when I walk in the large glass offices where people always ask about it and start dropping in coins. That makes a wonderful impression on a decision-maker.

The Two and Three-Footers are easy to carry. They only weigh about 30 pounds empty.

You need two people to lift and carry the Seven-Footer, but I have sold them by leaving it on a trailer or in a pick-up and carrying in the Three-Footer, then inviting them to the parking lot. It cannot be overstated how impressive the Seven-Footer is to see and play with. Once you get one placed in your city, you can invite future prospects to that location so they can see it in action. Be sure to take a look at the Seven-Footers.

Having said that, sales of the Seven-Footer will be rare for you because the number of locations with enough room for them such as shopping malls, museums, and zoos is limited.

Example

When I first invented the Spiral Wishing Well, I carried it into the Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio...without an appointment. The lady behind the information desk asked, "What is that?" and I replied, "I can show you better than I can tell you." That, by the way, is the best sales pitch line in the world.

I dropped a quarter into one of the ramps, and museum visitors came over like it was a magnet and started dropping in their own coins. As the museum manager came down the hall from his office, his first impression was that his visitors were having fun.

I introduced myself, and offered to leave the Well for a couple of days. He commented, "That is about the most exciting thing I have ever seen!" Then he added, "How much does it cost?"

At this point, I want you to know that my first Well had a Rubbermaid trash can for a base. As you can see in the accompanying picture, it also had one-at-a-time ramps and no attached sign. It wasn't much to look at!

But because he asked for the price, I knew that he wanted it. I love it when people ask how much because I know the sale is about to be made.

I replied that it was $1,000 (that was the 1985 commercial price). He said, "What? $1,000 for a trash can?" I could have let that discourage me, but I knew it wasn't just a trash can or just fiberglass. The price was, and still is, based on what it would do for the museum. So I confidently replied, "Yep, $1,000. Let's leave it here for a couple of days, and then you decide if you think it is worth it."

He agreed, and we taped a small Air Force Museum logo onto the rim.

I called him two days later, and he said, "We have to have this thing...it is fantastic! Everyone loves it, and people have been putting money in continuously." Of course, he lost all possibility to negotiate with that statement!

I replied, "Great, I will come down and pick up a check." But he said, "Son, this is the United States Government. You are going to have to fill out a bunch of forms and it will take at least 6 months before you get paid."

I replied, "That is no problem, we can just split the revenue between now and then," to which he shot back, "No way, I can find a way to make this happen today!"

I had a check in my hand for $1,000 from the United States Government that June day in 1985, two days after I walked in without an appointment. Amazingly, that Well has had over $1 million worth of coins tossed in since that day, and it has been directly responsible for many dozens of sales to other museums as the word spread.

The same Warm Puppy method continues to be the best way to sell the Wells.

Payment Terms for stores and charities

It is customary with some stores that they need to receive an invoice and run it through their system. This typically takes about 15 to 30 days, so you will want to be prepared to accept that if they don't have the money to hand to you on the spot. You know where they are, so you won't need to worry about collection problems.

Should you ever offer payment terms over a period of months?

Absolutely, if that is what it takes to make the sale. Even if you spread out your income over a few months, it is still a great way to make money. Of course, if you accept payments, we suggest you charge an additional $100 so they have the motivation to make an upfront purchase. We don't recommend that you offer terms at first, but if their hesitation is the full cost, you can say:

"If you prefer, you can pay for the Wells over a period of time with 50% of the proceeds so you can start raising money for your charity immediately. This option costs an additional $100, but you won't have to take any money out of your budget to purchase the Well...it will be paying for itself."

Notice that you are NOT participating in the long-term "ongoing" revenue...only temporarily until you receive the purchase cost of the Well. They handle the money, count it, and pay you monthly. This means you do not have to register as a professional fund raiser in your state. They are simply paying over a period of time.

Example: A Cricket Wireless franchisee in Salt Lake City has purchased 9 Three-Footers for his 9 wireless stores. He alternates charities every quarter which allows him to spread the revenue around. But he first paid himself back the full cost of the Wells plus the shipping, even while raising money for the first charity. He simply kept that charity's name on the Wells for a full quarter AFTER they were paid off. So the charity received revenue with no effort or investment, and the Cricket Wireless franchisee has no cost in his Wells.

This approach helps you sell Wells because it removes the initial cost as a barrier. It is only a temporary cost for the store. So it is a win-win-win formula, and one that you will want to suggest to stores.

At the same time, most large chain stores such as Wal-Mart won't need to "repay" their Well cost. They usually have enough money in their charitable fund to buy them outright. In a sense, it is the same thing, except they already have money in their fund from other fund raising projects and it gets replenished from the coin revenue.

How many wireless stores are there in your area? Many of them are franchise-owned by people who can do the same thing as the Cricket dealer in Salt Lake City. How many other franchise stores are in your area? You can offer the same plan to all of them.

What about splitting the coin revenue with the charity or location and operating a "vending route"?

Except for short term rental options, we do NOT allow traditional long term split-revenue placements where you place a Well in a store or institution and "split" the ongoing revenue with them as is done with many vending machines. We have spent years building the reputation of Spiral Wishing Wells as devices that generate 100% of the revenue for the listed charity. Consider these facts:

1. Though legal, the public and media do NOT like split revenue programs where an entrepreneur is profiting from donated money. That isn't as much of a problem with a vending machine that is dispensing a product, but Spiral Wishing Wells are viewed differently. They are seen as a "cash receptacle" and people have an expectation that the money they toss in ALL goes to the charity. Stores can't take the risk of being a part of any misunderstandings or controversy like that.

2. Most of the best locations are corporate chains like Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Toys-R-Us, Krogers, Safeway, Speedway, etc. Large national corporations already have a corporate charity and they usually will not let you place a Well for another charity in their store. On the other hand, they are even more open to purchasing a Well and giving 100% of the proceeds to their preferred charity. All the ingredients are in place for that:

  • They have a location.
  • They have high foot-traffic.
  • They have a charity.
  • They struggle to raise money for it.
  • They have money to purchase a Well.

3. If you were to place Wells on a split-revenue basis, you would have to provide the cost of the Wells yourself, find a charity that will work with you and negotiate a split, find a store that is willing to host a Well for that particular charity, and you have to supply all the ongoing route-collection and counting labor described in the next point.

4. Splitting revenue obligates you to a collection route and maintenance of the Wells. That involves cleaning, repairing, collecting, counting, accounting, and redistributing to the charity. You cannot walk away from that job. If someone drops a valuable item into the Well (yes, it happens...rings, watches, car keys, glasses, etc.) the store calls you and you have to be available RIGHT NOW! People can't leave the store if their keys are in the Well.

5. Splitting revenue requires a Professional Fund Raising Bond in most states, and brings up a host of additional issues such as contracts and agreements that significantly slow down the sales process and money in your pocket.

6. You could easily earn LOT'S MORE MONEY from the ongoing Vortx toy revenue from sales generated in a large chain store than from the split revenue in a smaller locally-owned store. Or, as some wise farmer once said, "Why climb a ladder when there is plenty of fruit hanging on the lower branches?"

Miscellaneous

How Many Wells Should be Placed in a Single Store?

This photo shows 8 Two-Footer Wells at a Wal-Mart store in Lexington Kentucky which have been generating thousands of dollars for over 10 years. It is rare that a store will purchase this many Wells, but it is common for them to purchase one for each entrance and exit. Because the Wells pay for themselves so quickly, one of the questions you can ask them is, "How many Wells would you like if they were free?" That question brings focus to the fact that they are basically "free" because they pay for themselves with new-found money. From the store's point of view, it is customary for the "first-fruits" to cover the cost of the Wells, so their initial outlay is temporary. Of course, if you have a sponsor lined up, it is free immediately. Sponsorship options are discussed more fully below.

(This picture shows our older model Two-Footers which had a clear dome. Because domes got scratched over time, we no longer make them with domes...)

Sales Tools and Ongoing Support

We know this page has a lot of information to process. In fact, we have even more info for those who become Reps. The additional information includes:

  • Detailed strategy and wording for popular store chains
  • Which stores to contact first
  • Demonstration hints
  • Templates for business cards and referral stickers for your Wells
  • Follow-up hints that will motivate a particular manager to call their counterpart in another store and introduce you.

Our goal is to help you turn your inventory over as fast as possible...again and again. So we supply ongoing support and examples of what other Reps are doing successfully. We provide this additional "Sales Strategy and Tools" when you become a Rep. But if you would like to review it before making a decision to become a Rep, please let us know.

What is Included With Each Well?

Each Two and Three-Footer Well is shipped with all parts, hardware, a padlock with 2 keys, and ready for you to assemble with a 7/16" end or adjustable wrench or pliers and about 10 minutes of your time. We include a 2-sided generic 4-color sign (close-up shown here) that works great for the demo placement, and most stores continue to use it. Some stores and charities make their own poster to slip into the sign frame.

The store will usually have a logo of their preferred charity which can be slipped into the clear plastic sign frame under the words, "Proceeds go to".

Optional items you may want to purchase include a sample sponsorship sign and rim sticker such as the ones shown in this picture. Of course, you can have those made locally as they are simple vinyl signs that are commonly made by any fast sign shop. We pass them on at cost which is $45 per sign/sticker set. Alternately, we will supply you with a one-page sponsorship hand-out that includes a picture that your prospective sponsors will be able to see.

Limitations

The Rep program encourages you to place and sell Wells to local stores and charities. We do not want you to contact regional or national chains. They require a completely different approach, professional negotiations, and they create complicated referral tracking if more than one person has contacted them. Also, large volume decisions always include downward pressure on prices. Local stores are buying one or two at a time, and this maintains the standard pricing and more profit per Well.

At the same time, you will likely sell Wells to many local stores that are part of a city or regional group, perhaps owned by one franchisee, or part of an association with one owner for each location. We encourage Reps to make those kind of sales. But the easiest and most profitable way to get all of them is one at a time. When you close the sale on one, ask the person paying you if their store is part of a local group and if they can refer you to other managers. In no time at all, you will have a Well in all the stores at the full standard pricing and maximum profit. On the other hand, if you try to go to their main office, you will find resistance. If they do express interest, it will be at much lower prices than you would get from each store individually.

This is a local city or region business model that just happens to have a long term income benefit for you. But it is not a national or chain sales model which means that we are not looking for Reps to contact the headquarters of large chains.

If you have an existing relationship with someone in that kind of position, please let us know and we will develop a plan to help you make that kind of sale.

Self-Employed Benefits

If you become an Independent Rep under this program, you own your own business. You work for yourself, not for us. Therefore, you can enjoy all the benefits of being a business owner, including but not limited to tax deductions for your vehicle, mileage, computer, cell phone, Blackberry, ISP, office space, etc. Of course, you will want to consult with your own accountant, but you should be able to deduct all the expenses that are related to your business.

Also, you can sell your business at any point in time. If you want to retire completely, and you have 100 or 200 Wells out there that are generating ongoing toy sales, you can sell that revenue stream. Who would you sell it to? You could start with any locally-owned store that would love to have that kind of exposure throughout the city. In that way, you can charge more than the standard annual revenue multiple because it also provides advertising revenue for the store.

Let's look at this from another point of view and compare this business model to a franchise. You can purchase a name-brand fast-food or fitness franchise store, but the good ones require a net worth of $1 million or more, you often have to borrow that much or more, you have to sign a lease on a store, you have to study manuals 100 times as complex as our program, you have to employ people and endure all the hassles that go with that, and you have to work long hours without days off. On top of that, you will operate at a loss for at least 6 months (if you are lucky) and then you won't make nearly as much money as our program after you start to earn a profit. Our business model has no franchise or license fees of any kind. It only requires that you purchase an inventory that you can turn over in a few days. It does not require a lease, does not require any employees, you can do it part time, and your income potential is extraordinary. It does not depend on people coming to your franchise store because you have "portable stores" all over the city.

Rep Income Guarantees

We can guarantee several things such as the manufacturing quality and that coins will put on a great spinning show. We can also guarantee that we will share all the best ideas and strategies with all Reps.

But we cannot guarantee things out of our control such as how much money people will toss into the Wells. More importantly, we cannot guarantee how friendly you are, how persistent you are, and how people respond to you. Those things are up to you.

Stated negatively , we can guarantee that if you don't place demos, you won't sell Wells, and you should not enter this program. You are an "Independent" Rep which means you do not work for us. You are self-employed. You are in charge of your time, and you are responsible to place and sell the Wells.

But if you are brave enough to carry a Well into a store or other venue with foot-traffic and you have the talent to say, "Watch this!," the rewards can be very lucrative.

One of our Reps recently commented:

"As a child, I fantasized that I could plant a tree that would grow money. The Spiral Wishing Wells are like money trees. I plant them all over town, and they generate toy sale profit for me. It doesn't get any better than that!"

That's the essence of the Rep Program. You are offering "money trees" to stores for their charity, and in the process, they grow money for you.

Summary

The Demo Is The Key

There are many income opportunities in the marketplace that require you to talk...to give a typical "sales pitch." You have to explain your product with words. You have to try to convince your prospect to stop using their current brand and start using yours. Those are tough sales. That is why people don't like selling.

But the Spiral Wishing Well Rep program is a hands-on, eyes-on demonstration process. The Wells sell themselves. They do all the talking. They are visual, auditory, get people involved, and PROVE THEMSELVES TO YOUR PROSPECTS. You don't have to convince people of anything. They already want to raise money and support charity, and the Wells are a welcome solution to that challenge.

But someone needs to carry in the demo. And we believe that person should be highly rewarded.

There are also many business opportunities out there that require a huge investment, signing a lease, hiring employees, and being open during long fixed hours. They "might" begin to turn a profit after a year or so.

But our Rep Program only requires that you purchase some Wells. Your office is in your home and in your car. And now they will become tax-deductible! Your hours are your own. With a part-time effort, you can turn a profit the first day. You can also quit any time you want to. You are in charge.

We don't promote "get rich quick" promises. To be sure, this program requires work. It requires some nerve to walk into a store with a Well and no appointment. It requires a purchase of inventory. If you don't have access to enough money to do that, this opportunity will not work for you.

Getting Started - Quantity Price Lock Offer

I hope that the above information has answered most of your questions. But if not, I am ready to do that on the phone or by email. If you are interested in becoming a Rep in your area so you can earn $500 per Well plus ongoing toy revenue, then let's get started.

Simple Start

Some people have the confidence to dive into the maximum starting position with 12 Wells which provides exclusivity and other important benefits.

But if you are unsure about your ability to be successful, we encourage you to start simply and modestly. You can begin with 3 Wells and one or two toys as samples. Go out and place one of those Wells for a 2-day warm puppy demo, and see how simple it is. Offer to rent another one to a high-school athletic department to raise money at their football or basketball game, or to a church, or a charity that is conducting a mall fund-raising event. Experience what it is like to receive rental requests from that exposure, or to sell the rented demo Well to the high school. Give yourself a few days to see what it is like to have a product that sells itself. Then you can decide if you want exclusivity for your area, and consider a 12-unit order.

But under no circumstances should you try to sell Wells just from pictures or words. THAT DOES NOT WORK. It only creates resistance for an actual demo placement later. No owner or manager will agree to let you place a Well until they EXPERIENCE its effect on their customers, and see how easily it pays for itself. Please, DO NOT go out and try to take orders before you decide whether or not to become a Rep. You should only contact stores and charities IF YOU HAVE A DEMO WELL. We are sharing this as forcefully as we can because no one has ever been able to sell a Well from a piece of paper.

Special "February Price Lock" Offer

As part of the launching of our Rep Program, if you complete your wholesale order by the end of February 2012, you can get the 12-Well price ($1,000 each) if you start with just 3 Wells! IN ADDITION TO THAT, we will permanently lock in that 12-unit wholesale discount level for the future, even if you only purchase one at a time after that! That will allow you to expand without having to sink so much money into inventory with each purchase. For instance, if you purchase 3 Wells at the $1,000 price, you can then place a demo, sell it, and get another Well shipped at that same $1,000 price, one at a time! This allows you to manage your inventory of colors and sizes without having to purchase multiple quantities.

This initial purchase of 3 Wells will also qualify you for the lowest price for Seven-Footers.

While this introductory offer to permanently secure the lowest cost for one-at-a-time orders is available for a limited time, please remember that territories are on a first-come-first-served basis with a minimum of 12 Wells . So if you are interested in locking up your area, we encourage you conduct your 3-unit test as soon as possible.
